A hot oil treatment is a ‘must’ in our hair care routine, especially if the hair is porous (damaged). Not only does it protect the hair against the drying effects of shampoo, by wrapping it into an oily film, but it also prevents hygral fatigue.
Should hot oil treatments be applied to dry or wet hair?
Water and oil don’t mix. Since water is ‘heavier’ than oil, it tends to create a layer around the hair and this prevents the oil from having any effect on it.
If you wish to fully take advantage of the oil nutrients and also limit hygral fatigue caused by shampoo, it is best to apply your hot oil treatment onto dry hair.
